Fire Doors

Fire doors are crucial for safety and protection in buildings. Their main purpose is to slow the spread of fire and smoke, allowing more time for people to evacuate and to protect parts of the building that might otherwise be severely damaged. Here's why they're so important:

  • Fire Safety: Fire doors create a barrier that can save lives by preventing fire and smoke from spreading to escape routes, such as stairwells or corridors.

  • Property Protection: By restricting a fire to one area, fire doors limit damage to a building and its contents.

  • Legal Compliance: Many building regulations and fire safety codes require fire doors to ensure that properties meet safety standards.

  • Emergency Response: By containing the fire, fire doors make it easier and safer for firefighters to control and extinguish a blaze.

It is essential to ensure fire doors are kept closed (or equipped with automatic closers) and not obstructed to maintain their effectiveness. Neglecting this can jeopardise the safety of everyone in the building.

Similarly, it is vital that regular checks and maintenance are conducted to ensure that any fire doors are fully operational.

How we work

  • We will arrange a mutually convenient site survey to assess your premises and the area where the new door will be fitted. During the survey, a member of our team will:

    • Fully inspect current doors to ensure we can provide an exact match from the original manufacturer, or ensure the door of your choice is suitable, available and compliant.

    • Take all required measurments for manufacture and fitting to ensure that regulatory compliance and manufacturer guidlines are adhered to, including:

      • The door, frame and all recesses.

      • All gaps between the door and frame, including the threshold gap (between the bottom of the door and the floor).

      • Intumescent seals (which expand when exposed to heat ensuring the door becomes a protective barrier during a fire).

      • Self Closing mechanisms to ensure the doors return to a closed position after they have been opened.

    • Conduct a full risk assessment which includes checking the door area to identify any hazards such as electric cables. We will also check the surrounding spaces to ensure our team can work safely and efficiently while minimising inconvenience to occupants of the building. Finally, we will evaluate the accesibly of the premises to ensure that any doors and fittings can be transported to the site and all waste can be removed.

    • We will also take photographs and produce any sketches which will form part of your finished quotation.

For new apertures where there is no requirement to replace an existing door, we can provide an initial quote "off plan", subject to a subsequent site inspection which will be conducted before any doors and fittings are ordered from the manufacturer.

  • Once we have conducted a site survey (or viewed your plans for new aperture installations), we will provide a full and inclusive non-obligation quotation based on our findings and the manufacture cost of the door type selected.

The quotation pack will contain any drawings and photographs from the site survey to help explain the work and the cost of your project. Once you have recieved your quote, our team will be happy to help with any further questions or queries.

If required, we can also quote for removal and disposal of any replaced door or material.

Please note that due to fluctuating costs and availability, our quotations are valid for 30 days from date of issue.

  • Following acceptance of your quote, we will order the doors and fittings direct from the manufacturer.

Upon arrival into our warehouse, each item is checked and inspected to ensure it is in perfect condition and adheres to your specification. This means that when we arrive to fit your doors, you can be confident that the installation will start and finish on time.

A member of our team will contact you to arrange a mutually acceptable date for installation.

  • On the day of installation, our fully qualified and accredited team will be with you at an agreed time to fit your new fire doors.

Each door and product will be fitted in strict accordance with the manufacturer instructions and building regulations to ensure that the doors perform correctly.

During the install, our team will do their upmost to keep disruption to a mimimum so that anybody using the building can go about their day like normal.

Once the doors have been fitted, we will thoroughly inspect the installation to ensure that it is compliant with all fire and health and safety regulations. Furthermore, we will maintain a history of the door and installation for tracability and accountability.

On completion, we will ensure that the site is clean and tidy and if required, any old doors or materials are safely removed from your premises. As an environmentally conscious and responsible company, we only use waste management partners with a 99% recycle rate.
